I got one Chakotay a week or two after he appeared. Since then, I have had nothing but 13 sets of worthless rations and 1 single time with a 4* behold.
I understand not wanting to make it too easy to get rewards. But really. When it was announced, I thought I would work hard for voyages. That was probably the intent. However making it so rare just makes me not care and lose desire. I play less now which is surely not what was intended.
I have ran multiple (12+ hours) voyages, and only receive mostly uncommon and a few rares. I mean I shouldn't receive uncommon cards after 12+ hours. I am still missing 4 voyage chain rewards. I get the first one of the chain than I receive a completely different chain or solo dilemmas. Even after picking the one that will lead to the next part of the chain.
It is now the rare voyage that is not 12hrs for me. I've been doing this since March (probably earlier). Still nothing. I'm even spending down my voyage tokens. This has gotten quite frustrating. And it's turning into another reason to avoid the Gauntlet (Black is too strong and has become another wall card).
It's November 10th - I've been running long voyages end-to-end and play the gauntlet multiple times daily, and still no V.D. Chakotay or Adm. Black. I've had no 5* beholds on any voyage, and the last gauntlet 5* crew I received was Radioactive Ransom over two months ago. I have obviously displeased the RNG gods.
I do, however, get a few 4* beholds, all of which give me choices of everything I've already immortalized.
When the voyage 5* cards were introduced, I used to run two day voyages for a long time, spending my voyage tokens. Didn't get anything. So I went back to running the regular 10 to 12 hour voyages. And got lucky twice.
Still never seen a behold for any of the voyage golds yet. Received a few purple beholds, but that's it. I'm constantly running 12 hour voyages. Maybe someday I'll see one.
The RNG is unfun and atrocious. I finally got a begold despite running 12 hour voyages 5-6 days per week since around when Chakotay dropped. Of course I took Black for my first one though.

My first Power Ransom took several Gauntlets to finally drop. I got my second pretty quick after, so I did a thing.
Both BeGolds so far were in very first third win Crate in a newly started Gauntlet.

As an enticement to get me to spend more or play gauntlet more, the voyage crew are a total failure. There is nothing you can do to increase your odds of getting them. The odds never get better on longer voyages. I can run a longer voyage, but it's the same odds. And Ben is still scared about long voyages causing stuck voyages. Spending DIL doesn't increase my odds. Spending tokens doesn't increase my odds. I can't run more than 1 voyage at a time. At least with gauntlet spending merits to refresh opponents or DIL to revive crew can give you more higher boxes and let you buy first place. But for voyages you get what you get. So there is no reason to spend any extra resources on something that won't make a difference.

Black is definitely the best option, for Gauntlet reasons. After that, it would be Chapel for my choice.
