So much so that I am sitting on 16,000 chrons when that portion of the event opens
Good luck. My medicine is the weakest part of my crew. In case they add the Discovery doc next week I will attack than :P
MED is everyone's weakest I'm pretty sure. All these new crew have higher stats than older crew but big time medicine men and women aren't being introduced. Medical is the exception to the rule as the older crew have higher stats but they are SO much higher to obtain fully fused out of packs than they are out of events

Yes - for whatever the reason. As you say: Many state this is their weakest area. So DB introducing a new med powerhouse would be good for all sides. Also revenue wise for them...
I've never done an expedition so I'm keen. Some variety in events would be nice, I prefer hybrid events so far but faction only I find a grind and little reward. At least Galaxy gives a little more, though a full Galaxy chews through the chrons a bit.
I just want something new every week. A voyage event once in a while might be fun, and an expedition event. Or something different again. A battle arena event or something
A galaxy event after 2 half galaxy events, DB must be having a laugh!! I know voyages have helped with chronitons, ( im getting roughly 400 a day extra from them) but still, this is insane, guessing you guys are short of money at the moment but still, pandering to the whales who pay money to win just makes its **tsk tsk** for the rest of us

With Expeditions, I have finished my highest rankings with them, top 20.its just boring and long. They have gotten better but the xmas 5 day Expedition traumatized me for ever.
Also, death to Tilly. Galaxy usually requires the least amount of my time but so much waste.
I have no idea why anyone would WANT shuttle mission events. Those are the absolute worst. I'm pretty sure only spenders can finish more than 3/4 of those things. At least with a galaxy event I have a chance to get all of the rewards.
This is extremely disappointing for people who enjoy Discovery, but choose to use chronitons on leveling their crew. Three consecutive galaxy events is absolutely outrageous.
There is no need to play the event. You could choose to skip it....
Faction events are nice in that there's no real downside to playing them, but the reward almost always goes straight to my airlock since I don't really need more unfused 4*s. Galaxy/hybrids are my bread and butter thanks to the community rewards, so I'm always happy to see more.

That's absolutely not true. I've consistently got top 1000 as F2P after about 5 months of playing. It's just a matter of freezing lots of 4*s and making sure that you have good bonus crew.
It's hard to walk the line between the two event types, however. F2P or monthly card players who spend tens of thousands of chrons on galaxy events aren't going to have the resources to FE their crew and aren't going to do well in faction events or regular gameplay.
From a tactical standpoint, it's glaringly obvious that the smart move is to skip galaxy events, but some people conflate the community rewards with a good event, so here we are.

I can't even imagine how you'd have many 4 stars without spending a chunk of money. I've been playing for 5ish months, and I've only managed to get more than one of an epic crew in these last few events. But shuttles are contingent on a) having more than the default, b) having lots of significant time boosts, and, well, the more we get into it, the more I want to call shenanigans on people who say they don't spend but do well in those events. If you're not spending now, you probably spent in the past.

I was F2P for a long time probably 7 months I after a while I started placing in the top 1k. However now especially that you get points for failed shuttles, you need at least 4 shuttles and a deep roster to staff them in order to place top 1K. I’ve spent maybe 28 dollars total now and been playing 15 months. Just recently broke down and got the 4th. My first purchase was 20$ of dil to unlock vip 4 and get the warp 10 feature. 2nd two were monthlys for crew slots and shuttles.
It obviously becomes harder to compete in the top tier rewards with every generation of players as a few F2P are eclipsed by spenders all the time. It really helps having a deep roster to fall back on which comes from playing or spending for a long time. I am currently ranked about 327 and have about 175 rare rewards. Haven’t spent a dime on any of the discovery events yet.

Community rewards on Galaxy Events, 5s collected from Megas, there's lots of ways to build up without spending too much. I admit, I've spent some cash, but most of it has gone to slots.

It's a little presumptuous to think that because you aren't able to do something, then nobody else can. There are many, many things that go into successful faction events.
I was having trouble even getting a 1/4 to start with, but I'd level them up and wait for an event where they were bonus. Slowly things improved and I could get top 1500 and FF crew.
A real turning point for me was getting in an amazing fleet. There I discovered advanced strategies and advice that vastly improved my performance in events. If you're not in a fleet that is constantly finding new ways to win that other fleets don't know about then you need to find one. That's my advice.
Also, the most important thing is just setting alarms and never missing a 3 hour shuttle turnaround. There is no substitute for hard work. If you can get to 3500+ VP and never miss a set of shuttles then you will get top 1000 every time.
I've enjoyed the mega event so far. I've only been able to see the discovery pilot, so I have no idea about some of the characters. But I will catch up soon I think. Hybrid events at least let me immortalize two science guys, my weakest after medicine.
That said, I do think there is some room for improvement. T'Kuvma was not the best choice for the free 5 star, and the art on some of the characters seems rushed, compared to older crew. Especially Lorca.

Shuttle/faction events are not my favourite but as player of 7 months (2-3 months F2P, 4-5 months with monthly card) with still only 3 shuttles, with effort I can regularly finish top 500-1000. Sometimes I have strings of failures and my crew don't fit the slots and I finish shy of 1000, but this is less common each month.
It took two months as F2P until I was able to get my first 4/4, Admiral Picard from a hybrid faction/expedition event. Can't remember, I may have just begun with the monthly card. I mapped out the event, made a spreadsheet, did every ticket, and squeaked over the rank I needed for him.
These past two weeks I was able to finish the thresholds with shuttles alone, then sit out the galaxy portion entirely (already had the ranked crew) to focus resources on immortalizing and freezing cadets and equipping crew acquired from previous events.
Galaxies do help to FF crew more than pure faction events, but they are also costly to other aspects of your game:

It's hard for me to draw the line in galaxies when I'm not stoked about the crew so consider sitting it out (other than the community pull). What threshold is cost effective to get to, and then whether to splurge chrons trying to FF those super-rares even if just to freeze them. I think you're right that I should nearly skip galaxies (if I'm not very interested in the crew). It's easier to do in hybrid faction/galaxy, running only the faction portion to pass the thresholds.
I can't even imagine how you'd have many 4 stars without spending a chunk of money. Are you talking about spending a lot, or just a monthly card? Even F2P now can invest dilithium in a 3rd shuttle because of achievements. The more we play, the more you build up crew, and the easier it gets. Sure I will never get to the point where big spenders do, with a bunch of immortalized legendary crew. But it's certainly possible with effort to do well enough in events to FF super-rares.
And now there are voyages, making things 100x easier to get going with fusing and building crew than when we started several months ago.
T'Kuvma was not the best choice for the free 5 star, and the art on some of the characters seems rushed, compared to older crew. Especially Lorca.
They probably look rushed because they are, after all they needed to get the art done before laying off a whole bunch of DB staff.
The main advantage to the Faction/Galaxy, Galaxy events so far that I can see is that you don't need to spend a dime!
The SR DSC crew can be FFFE out of the threshold and community rewards.
The bad points are:
Prevents crew leveling as all resources are wasted crafting items for VP
Sloooooowwww (i.e. animation when crafting **tsk tsk**, recipes too monotonous etc)
Slows shuttle sending as strongest crew are needed for crafting
Expedition events don't block up crew or chronotrons like either galaxy or faction events but comes down to how many tickets you are willing to buy.
Personally I would like to have seen one faction, a faction/galaxy hybrid, a galaxy and a expedition event.

I have a feeling they keep throwing galaxy events at us because people pay for chronitons to keep it going, which I never do.
I am trying to be optimistic about the game, but galaxy events every week are starting to bring me down.
Please make 3-skill crew again. The heavy shift to 2-skill crew clashes with implementation of voyages.
Please make more (or feature existing) MED & ENG crew, good ones with 3 skills.
Please make Sarek bonus crew too since he's a character in DSC.
Thank you for the heads up info.

My thoughts exactly.
According to some previous polls, expedition events are the favourite of a sizable majority of the player base.
I just want something new every week. A voyage event once in a while might be fun, and an expedition event. Or something different again. A battle arena event or something
Is this reverse psychology?

Very well said.
Galaxy: save those voyage chronitons
Both are attainable if you're patient and pick your spots.
