Mudd debuts this Sunday, so he's a good bet. So does Ash Tyler. Of the prominent characters we've already seen that aren't in game would include Tilly, (Young) Sarek, Voq, L'Rell, and Kol. We know Dr. Culber will be featured more in the future. Definite 2* potentials for Landry, Detmer, Airiam, Cromwell. Oh, and let's not forget Ripper!
Leaving Ripper to never be a character please. I just really don't like the idea of branching much into creatures, the more humanoid the creature the more okay with it I am, but things like Horta, Ripper, the whales from Voyage Home are just too campy to me.
I couldn't disagree more. I really need to see Ripper in game. How could that in any way be camp in comparison to the TAS crew - which I detest. But it's in game and that's cool! Why not everyone's favourites get a look in.
+1000 for Ripper, Horta et al.
“Holodeck 2 tomorrow, 1600 hours. Just you, me and a tuning fork”
So is Ripper sentient? I believe it is just an lower class animal, and thus should not be considered something playable... Its like expecting Porthos to have diplomacy and command skills to run an away team. The Horta on the other hand is definitely sentient, and while would have a hard time using starship controls is at least of a higher order able to reason, interact (with appropriate translation), etc.
Though this is a character collection game (finally admitted to be such by DB CEO in recent press releases) it has RPG elements which control how we can use a character.
Make Ripper the 2 year anniversary avatar. You've already got some precedence with the Alfa Canine.
Or just give it to folks for some other achievement.

I agree. The Horta was a fully sentient (or sapient, if you prefer), being with high levels of intelligence.
Now, adding the whales would just be silly since there's no reason to believe they could help run a starship (dolphins working on the Enterprise-D notwithstanding).
As for Ripper, we don't know how intelligent it/he is (maybe last night's episode had such information, but I haven't seen it yet). If he ends up being more of a "creature", then having him as a character makes little sense. If he ends up with a high level of intelligence, then sure, might as well have him as a character.

So since Orion Slaver is existing, he's going to be ranked isn't he? I just leveled him this weekend and feel like it was a waste because once galaxy gets factored in, I'm toast on rankings.

It's been that way for the last few events, but was not true in an event relatively recently so don't count your chickens.

I don't know if it's sentient in the version that made it into the show, but maybe? The "Ripper" (stupid name) creature was originally going to be part of the crew and Stamets boss. They had developed a uniform and workstation for it and stuff, but it would have doubled the effects budget to have Ripper as a crew member.
I'd be very happy with Orion Slaver as threshold, and think there is at least some chance DB will do it. Reason being that he was previously only featured in "best chance of" packs and perhaps a one or two ensemble packs (unless I've missed something)---that makes him a rarity among people who did not possess the resources and inclination to go out of their way to acquire him.
That said, since DB is trying to feature the new Discovery crew as much as possible, I still think it's more likely we'll see the TBD Discovery super rare as threshold. Unless that crew is a total rando (like idiot Tasha Yar-wannabe security officer whose name I can't remember) or worse, that Klingon lady who hangs out with T'Kuvma, it's going to be a win/win.

That would have improved the show tenfold. I wish they had stuck with that.
Also: Any idea when we're going to get the crew info? By this time last week I believe we had it...

A four-day Galaxy event is about as bad as events ever get, I’m in up to t’kuvma And then out. The faction/galaxy hybrid is quite a nice format as you’ve got time in the first couple of days to level the 4* event crew before you have to divert all your chrons to the Galaxy phase.
before you have to divert all your chrons to the Galaxy phase.
I don´t like 4 day galaxies as well. As part of a hybrid they are fine. In case I should still need some points to get what I want after the shuttle part. But you don´t have to divert all your chrons to that at all. Many items in the galaxy events repeat all the time. Just prefarm them in masses and you don´t need too many chrons than. Especially now with Voyages we can quite comfortably level crew and prefarm...

I’m aware of all that, and I generally don’t commit to a Galaxy event unless I really want the 5* rank reward. However pre-farming is a risk because recipes DO change between events, I’ve been caught like that before and ended up with a stack of useless junk.
Supply kits and voyages have made Galaxy events a more pleasant experience, but 4 days of that nonsense is still far too long,

4 days of any kind of event are too long. Hence I prefer Hybrids. When I want something I attack the shuttle part with stored up boosts etc. In most cases that is enough. Or only some finetuning in the galaxy portion needed...

It's not like you lose the items you prefarmed though. Even if they're not the right ones for the coming event, you'll still use them eventually in another or for crew building. No real downside there.
I don't see how pre-farming can help enormously. Why not just save up the chrons and use them where they are needed? Warp 10 can be done on a matter of seconds so it's not like you'll be slowed down much unless you're at warp 1. Genuinely curious as to how much it can help.
I have 15,000 right now. I like the game much better this way. If I want to do something I can and don't have to wait for days to build up chronitons like we did for a year and a half. For me either 5000 or 10,000 is the new zero.

Thanks, that explains it I guess I have a very different gameplay based on goodness knows what, an obsession with never running out of things I guess. I always have a stash of chrons, honor, merits, credits, trainers, that I never drop below because I never know when I'll need them urgently.
Early on in the game I never had enough chrons, and I did a galaxy event with no extra chrons and it seemed to take forever to regeneration them. And I didn't access the forums so I never knew in advance what event was going to happen.
But I might re-evaluate my gameplay based on this. I can easily regeneration chrons with voyages, so those overnight regens suddenly appear more interesting, especially with the starbase starting to be less productive chrons wise. Thanks guys!

We got the update Tuesday last week if I remember correctly. I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing it until tomorrow.

If you save the chrons, you lose out on the 1 per 6 minute regen. So you can turn those chrons into items and still collect.
